An underground stem of the Ginger plant, the Ginger we know and used as a spice is actually named Ginger Root. Used as a spice for cooking and consumed whole as a delicacy or medicine, Ginger has a long cultivation history whose origins can be traced to Asia and can be found growing in India, Southeast Asia, West Africa, and Caribbean. Ginger has many culinary uses, including being pickled in Vinegar or Sherry as a snack or cooked as an ingredient in many dishes.

You can even put Ginger in boiling water and stewed it into some Ginger tea (you can add honey to this tea as a sweetener or add a slice of orange or lemon). Extremely potent, mature Ginger Root’s juice is often used as a spice in Indian cuisine as well as Chinese cuisine to flavor such delicious dishes as mutton or seafood and vegetarian cuisine while powdered dry Ginger Root (Ginger powder) is usually used to spice gingerbread, cookies, candy (Ginger itself can be made into candy, too), and other favorite recipes.

Ginger is also the main flavoring ingredient in Ginger Ale and a spicier Ginger Beer is a popular drink in the Caribbean. Often used to disguise the taste of medicine, Ginger is frequently employed to treat dyspepsia, colic, nausea, and diarrhea, improve your circulation as well as to relieve any aching muscles and arthritis.

SUGGESTED USAGE
Mix together 5 to 10 drops of Ginger Essential Oil and a teaspoon of carrier oil (such as Sweet Almond Oil, Grape Seed Oil, or Olive Oil) and add to a tub full of warm bath water.

Personal massage oil add 1 to 2 drops of Ginger Essential Oil to a teaspoon of carrier oil (such as Sweet Almond Oil, Grape Seed Oil, or Olive Oil) and massage this oil deep into your skin until your skin completely absorbs it.

Put 5 drops of Ginger Essential Oil in a bowl of hot, steaming water so you can put a towel over your head and deeply inhale the vapors for a few minutes or so.

Home or linen spray, just add 10 drops or more of Ginger Essential Oil in a spray bottle full of water, shake the bottle and spray liberally over your desired linen or any room in your house.

Warning: This essntial oil is slightly photoxic (meaning that it can become somewhat toxic if the subject is exposed to the sunlight); therefore, do not use this oil on your skin especially if that particular area is exposed to direct sunlight for more than several hours.
