Dianthus: The active ingredients in Dianthus such as eugenol and dianthus saponin have displayed anti-bacterial and antipyretic properties. It has been used in both experimental & clinical trials for the treatment of urinary tract infections and strangury (incomplete emptying painful feeling & frequent urination of small volumes that are expelled slowly and only by straining).
